Our client for this sensational family home installation wanted a fully integrated Smart Home solution that would provide easy and intuitive control of all aspects of the technology in the house, including, lighting

Due to the size of this system ease of use was crucial to the client and having gone through many options with them we settled on AMX being the control system of choice, with both in wall and wireless panels on their wish list. These panels have been carefully positioned throughout the property to give the client access to all of their AV, lighting and HVAC equipment easily. We also worked closely with our AMX programmers to ensure that the screens layout and content were simple to operate. Each room has it’s own page on the panel to control the heating, lighting and AV effortlessly.

The 20,000 square ft. home has two plant rooms in the basement which house the vast majority of AV source equipment, meaning in the rooms we were able to discretely ‘hide’ a lot of the products within wall iPod docks and touch panels, ceiling speakers and Artcoustic speakers providing pieces of art rather than pieces of technology. The Artcoustic speakers made it simple to seamlessly combine high quality audio performance in to each rooms individual aesthetics, this is best seen in the Jacuzzi area where the Artcoustic speakers have been placed amongst backlit, pieces of coloured Italian glass to provide a great visual look and feel.

The underground racks have been split so that all of the audio is in one rack with the data and video also having their own separate rack space. The racks have the ability to be pulled out allowing for easy access and maintenance. As well as this we have installed a Dell Server so that we can monitor and maintain the system remotely from our offices. We have also used Powerplay units giving the client the option to reboot individual products from any PC or laptop, meaning they don’t need to go to the plant rooms each time this needs to be done.

This family home is truly ground-breaking, not just because of its size but the way in which five racks effortless communicate with one another to provide a fully automated house with AV, lighting and HVAC controllable in each room. For new products and future expansion extra CAT5e cables have been run in to each room and each rack has been wired and left extra space to house more source equipment.
